(with Robbie Davis-Floyd, Ph.D., Cultural Anthropologist of Reproduction) We have the highest trained surgeons for birth (Ob/Gyns) in the world, the best technology in the world, we’re just about the most highly vaccinated country in the industrialized world (if not the highest) & we spend more on healthcare than anyone else in the world (according to this World Health Organization’s 2010 World Health Report).
Yet according to this United Nations report, the US ranks in the bottom of industrialized nations in infant & maternal health indicators.
How is that possible? What do these other countries know what we don’t?
What we experience in the hospital today comes from our nation’s maternity care history. Hearing this will help you make better decisions for your birth.
Dr. Davis-Floyd has a wealth of knowledge to teach in these 3 short 10 minute (or less) videos. She doesn’t try and convince you to “go one way” …she tries to help you figure out what’s best for you.
Dr. Floyd teaches you why she wishes she would have known herself better at the time of her birth, she tells her story & how it matters to you, what you gain & what you lose by agreeing to different interventions & why she says “I wish I would have had more trust in myself…”
Watch this lesson & you’ll be better prepared having soaked up 30+ years of Dr. Floyd’s knowledge on birth. Whatever, wherever & with whomever…knowing more about the care you’ll get, will help you have a healthier birth.
You’ll Also Learn:
- Why growing a baby is not a passive process. Your baby needs you to be actively involved.
- The Medical Evidence showing that your baby should never be induced before 39-40 weeks.
- What you might lose out on if you roll into your birth without thinking through what YOU want (regardless of provider, etc.)
