Does My Baby Have Food Allergies? How Do I Know & What Do I Do?

(with Talitha Seibel, mom of 4, allergen counselor)

Talitha’s baby was having problems. He was projectile vomiting & just miserable. The pediatrician said to give him some allergy drugs, because there’s nothing they could really do. Talitha wasn’t satisfied. She wasn’t getting real answers.

Her “momstinct” (as she calls it) knew there was something bigger going on. So she pursued the problem, found answers & figured out a solution that has made her son a happy, thriving kiddo!  Woo hoo!

Food allergies can be overwhelming.  How do you even know where to start? Luckily, Talitha’s done e-x-t-e-n-s-i-v-e research, has become an allergen counselor & is here to teach you where to go, what to do & how to get answers.

Talitha shares all she’s learned, guides you on how to figure out if your child has food allergies & what to do if they do. She talks about how to get allergy testing for your baby, how to eat around food allergies, how dairy & gluten might affect your breastfeeding, treatment options, approaches to dealing with allergies, where to start when you find out your child has food allergies & why talking to your lactation consultant is equally as important as talking to your pediatrician (because they’ve been wrong when it comes to breastfeeding stuff) & more.

You’ll Also Learn:

  1. The difference between allergies, intolerances and sensitivities (and why it’s important to make the distinction)
  2. Why what you eat (while breastfeeding) matters to you & baby
  3. Why eating organic, fresh, whole food is a game changer.
  4. Hidden ingredients in food- (did you know shredded cheese has corn in it? )

Great info! As a lactation consultant I deal with this a LOT….so many confused and miserable moms trying to figure this out all by themselves. Thanks for the info!

That’s interesting Kelly and makes sense that you would see this alot with the mamas you help. Thanks for your thoughts:)

Thank you so much for the info. My baby girl is now 6.5 months and since 5 weeks has had gastrointestinal issues on and off. Her stool has had blood specks and is very mucussy and is a dark green color. I went off of dairy and soy for 5 months and she improved, but then relapsed. So now I’m wondering if it is a new allergy or if I accidentally had some dairy or soy while dining out. I then questioned whether it was diary at all so I started dairy again and she seems to be worse. But I’m having a hard time deciding what to cut out. I’m interested in seeing a naturopath, but how do I know they are legitimate and not trying to make money? What would be the next step to take?

  • Talitha,

Jacqueline, it certainly sounds like she needs to be off of dairy. When she first relapsed (at 5 months it sounds like?) it sounds like she accidentally had some soy or dairy. It is in almost EVERYTHING. If you eat out often, or did around that time, that sounds like a very likely answer. And if you then started sneaking in dairy again and she seems to be worse…sounds like that confirms it. I would quit the dairy again immediately. Give her lots of avacado which has healthy omega3s to get her tummy back on track.
I’m not sure what area you live in but I would suggest asking around or checking a site like for a local naturopath with a good reputation.

    Hope this helps!
